NIMENA Call For Papers Is Now Open

(i). Introduction
The Call for papers for the Nigerian Institution of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects (NIMENA) 2020 Conference is NOW OPEN!

The 9th NIMENA Conference will be held live and virtually on Thursday, November 5th, 2020 whilst the AGM will be on Friday, November 6th, 2020.

Our Conferences are designed to bring seasoned maritime engineers, scientists, and captains of industry together in a consortium to present their research solutions to industrial challenges, innovative designs, marine pollution, human capacity building, jobs creation, infrastructural development and operational safety. We encourage academics, research engineers, HR professionals, representative of companies and Doctoral students to submit their work to the conference committee via: www.conference.nimena.org.ng

The following theme and sub-themes are chosen for the 9th NIMENA Conference:

Theme:

Pollution Prevention and Control for Safe and Sustainable Living: Nigeria in Focus.

Sub-Themes:

  • Legal strategies in curbing maritime pollution affecting the Nigeria Nation
  • Regulations, laws and enforcement as potent tools for safer and cleaner environment.
  • Plastics and aquatic weed on our ocean and waterways – Impact and solutions
  • Ship wrecks on Nigerian waters –
    X-raying the implications
  • The role of marine professionals in pollution prevention and control
  • Novel technological innovations in the control and prevention of pollutions

(ii) All accepted extended abstracts, papers, and case study presentations in English will be published in the NIMENA Conference Proceeding and be delivered to the participants during the conference.

To make sure that your submissions are received and reviewed, please submit as EARLY as possible on or before 4th of September.

By submitting a paper, all authors also agree that at least one author would attend the conference.

All submissions will be subjected to peer review.

NIMENA Conference Papers

Please explore the possibility of sending an extended abstract (of not more than 500 words) of your research not later than Friday, September 4th, 2020.

On accepting the abstract, your will be requested to make a payment of N20,000.00 only into:

Thereafter,

(Kindly Note that ALL Authors are participants, but NOT ALL Participants are authors, so note, whilst paying dues.)

Such paper should be an original research work, written in clear English, properly organised with well-illustrated graphics and should be relevant to the conference theme.

The papers should be formatted in Times New Romans, font-size 12, with 2.5cm margins, double line spacing and Harvard referencing style.

You are strongly advised to proof read your paper for consistency, grammar, and spelling.

References to other publications must be in Harvard style and carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency.

In addition, six keywords should be provided which encapsulate the principal topics of the paper. Figures, tables and charts should be supplied within the article itself. All authors’ names, initials, year, title of the reference material, name of journal, etc. should be stated in full.

Abstract and full paper requirements

Remember that a call for papers means that a professional organization or similar body is asking people to submit original, scholarly articles for review and consideration for update on submission of Abstracts, Papers and Presentations. Authors must supply a structured abstract and full paper cut out under 5 sub-headings as given below:

(i) Introduction:
Title: The title must be related to the theme and attractive to readers.
Background: Give some background information.
The statement of problem: State the specific problem(s) to be solved.
State the purpose: Goal/Objectives of the research should be stated clearly and concisely.
Significance of research: Why the research is considered important.
Research limitations: The scope of the research.

(ii) Literature survey: This section should entail:

  • Review of current and relevant literatures and previous contributions.
  • Identification of research gaps and your unique solution/ innovation.

(iii) Materials and Methods:

  • By analysis, computation, design, experimentation, etc.
  • Cost estimate/ implications, where applicable.

(iv) Results and Discussion: Presentation of results, discussion and findings.

(v) Conclusion, Recommendations and proof of Originality/value of the paper.
